UK beauty blogger, Lesley Buckle talks about working for Asos, her everyday beauty routine, and her best advice for anyone looking to start a blog.

1. Name

Lesley

2. Where are you from?

Born and raised in London, United Kingdom

3. What is your sign?

Scorpio

4. What do you do? Can you tell me about your journey?

I’m a hair and beauty blogger and I’m also a beauty ‘insider’ for global fashion brand ASOS.

I’ve been blogging for a few years and up until last year it was something that was just a hobby whilst I was working full time in a completely unrelated field. Whilst I loved what I did full time there was just no opportunity for development and there was nothing creative about it so eventually I decided to pursue blogging more and make it into my career. I’m only at the start of my journey as there’s so much more I want to achieve.

5. What does your everyday makeup routine look like?

I’ve always tried to take a natural approach but I’ve scaled back my makeup routine for everyday a lot more recently. Some days it’s simply a primer, a bit of concealer, brushed brows and a balm. Other days I’ll wear a bit more by adding foundation, a bolder lip and some mascara. I’m a bit obsessed with highlighters so they’re usually in the mix too.

6. You're skin is flawless!  What products do you swear by? What's your skin care regimen?

Thank you! With skincare I’ve always tried to keep it simple as I do get breakouts and that tends to be when I try to do too much to my skin. I moisturize and wear sunscreen to protect my skin each day. Cleansing thoroughly is a must too so I do this twice daily and usually ‘double cleanse’ in the evening to ensure all traces of my makeup are gone. I tend to use a lot of products formulated with glycolic acid (from brands like Nip+Fab and Pixi) which is great for congested skin as it removes dead skin cells, helping clear blocked pores.

7. Best advice for someone looking to get into your field?

Just start. Anyone can start a blog so once you’ve decided on subject matter there’s nothing really stopping you. There’s platforms to create a blog for free (like Blogger, Tumblr or Wordpress) or you can start smaller with a social media website like Instagram. Building an audience and working with brands can take time but if you have passion for what you do, that will come later.

8. What are you currently crushing on?

I’ve been listening to a lot of chilled music recently and tracks by Alina Baraz & Galimatias have been on repeat a lot.

9.  Where do you get your fashion and beauty inspiration?

I love just looking at magazines, Instagram and Pinterest for inspiration.

10. What beauty/fashion trends do you recommend trying this Spring?

Dewy skin, braids, exaggerated sleeves and embroidered everything - that’s what I’m trying anyway!

11. Best advice?

Don’t dwell on your mistakes, learn from them and push forward.

12. Your Motto?

Work hard, stay humble.

13. Your biggest regret?

There’s a lot of things I could have done differently (and probably would have if I had my chance again) but there’s nothing I really regret.

14. Do you have any hobbies? If not, is there anything new you would want to try out?

I’d love to be better at photography and spend more time behind the camera rather than in front of it. I'd love to travel more too, there's so many places I haven't seen yet.
