As I was reading the August issue of VOGUE magazine on my way to work, I couldn’t wait to write this post! Jumping out of the page I read, "FLASH…Social Responsiblity" a story on the 2011 CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear winner, Prabal Gurung, (by Katherine Bernard) and his fight against human trafficking in Nepal!

Gurung is currently working with Maiti Nepal, a charity that provides aids for victims of human trafficking, and has been named a Goodwill Ambassador for the organization. Maiti Nepal was founded in 1993 by CNN Hero award recepient Anuradha Koirala.

“A society [free from] human trafficking is possible and we must realize that it is our responsibility to make this world a better place for all mankind,” the designer told The Kathmandu Post. “By simply stating our desire, we sow the seeds of great change,” says Gurung.
